Systems Biology of Infectious Diseases Workshop

We are pleased to announce the second annual Systems Biology of Infectious Diseases workshop hosted by the Center for Viral Systems Biology (CViSB) at the Scripps Research Institute.

The two-and-a-half day workshop will emphasize computational systems biology approaches to improved understanding of host response to viral infection, across a spectrum of methods and applications.  Among topics discussed in the presentations will be included: evolution of virus and host immune response, antibody repertoire, antibody-mediated immune functions, immune cell receptor recognition, immune cell communication and signaling, design of clinical treatments, and patient population analysis.  Approaches described will range from structural and quantitative biochemistry/biophysics models to machine learning algorithms to dynamical systems simulations.

This workshop, directed towards grad students, postdocs and ‘junior’ investigators, will be hands-on and limited in size. Programming/bioinformatics experience is recommended (but not required).

If you are interested in attending the workshop, please submit the online application indicating your interest, background, programming experience and cv. No payment is required for the application – only if you are successful in applying for the workshop will payment be required.

There will be two registration periods: 

Early Registration – January 3rd

Early registration begins December 12th and closes January 3rd. Applicants will be notified no later than January 7th of the status of their application.

Late Registration- February 3rd

Late registration begins January 4th and closes February 3rd. Applicants will be notified no later than February 6th of the status of their application.

A $300 registration fee will be due with registration.

The registration fee includes:

  • Breakfast, tea/coffee, and lunches will be provided for the duration of the course
  • Use of the course training room
  • Course materials provided

Travel Bursaries

Travel and accommodations are at the participant’s expense however a limited number of travel bursaries are available. Please indicate if you would like to be considered for a travel bursary in your application.
